Do you remember Nellie Sue from Every Cowgirl Needs a Horse? The little girl who lived and breathed horses — and just knows that she’ll be getting a horse for her birthday? (Except she got a bike instead.) You remember her, right?

Well, she’s back with a new book and brand new boots in Every Cowgirl Needs Dancing Boots!! And Nellie Sue wants to kick up her heels with friends. But, who will dance with her?

Unfortunately, the neighborhood Glitter Girls prefer ballet to cowgirl dancing.

Initially disappointed, Nellie Sue doesn’t give up. She decides to host a barn dance in her garage and invites the whole neighborhood, even the Glitter Girls.

Will the Glitter Girls show up? What will Nellie Sue do if no one shows up?

. . .

I’ll give you a hint — Nellie Sue’s perseverance is inspiring, and the payoff is rewarding.

Book Play: Author, Rebecca Janni shares playful ways to be a cowboy or cowgirl on Imagination Soup.
