Look! a Book!

March 6, 2011

Look! a Book!
written and illustrated by Bob Staake
Little, Brown and Company, 2011
picture book

Look! a Book is an interactive delight, asking children to LOOK for things like . . .

A bone!
A cone!
A pumpkin phone!
A clock!
A sock!
A toothy croc!

Peek-through holes on colorful, glossy pages open up to colorful thematic illustrations such as Things That Go, Museum Creatures, Aqua-Goofy Jubilee, and Haunted House. The illustrations are packed with zany creatures and funny people like a flying polar bear, kids riding a dinosaur, and an octopus in a submarine. There’s so much to look at!

Watch Bob Staake’s drawing process on the computer. Check out his other illustration work as a The New Yorker contributor.

Book Play: Make your own LOOK! Lists for each other to find.
