That Can’t Can’t Stay

written by Thad Krasnesky Illustrated by David Parkins

Picture Book

That Can’t Can’t Stay is a classic Mom versus Dad tale.  Mom, who loves cats.  Dad, who doesn’t.  Who do you think wins?

(You’re not actually thinking about this are you?)

Not that dad doesn’t give it a good try.

“There’s no use begging. Don’t say please. I don’t like cats. They scratch my knees. They carry fleas. They make me sneeze. . .”

But mom’s tactics are simply genius.  Tactics by which she agrees to get rid of the cat, and adds a few words about the poor creatures upcoming fate.

“You are right again,” Mom said to Dad, “and I won’t cry or get too sad just thinking of this little cat and how a car might squish her flat . . .”

But Dad said, “Well . . .”

Like I said, genius.

You’ll love this book and it’s surprise ending.
